Netflix has expanded its new slate of original content along with 10 original films over several genres and subjects.
Netflix revealed that it has partnered with leading producers and filmmakers such as Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP, Red Chillies Entertainment by Shahrukh Khan, digital content arm Dharmatic (Karan Johar), Roy Kapur Films (Siddharth Roy Kapoor), and top filmmaker Farah Khan for this inventiveness.
This originates months after the streaming major had broadcasted 8 new original films content and some new original series for the Indian market. Netflix stated that all 15 new contents of original Indian films will be offered to their members across the globe.
“Given our history, culture, and diversity, India is home to influential stories waiting to be informed to audiences across the world. The penetration of vision and talent of our creators is empowering us to make films that our members will love. Our main aim to be leading filmmaker for India’s supreme filmmakers where their online stories explore to more people than before" stated Srishti Behl Arya, Director, International Original Film, Netflix, India.
In between recent commissioned films comprise Ghost Stories which is directed by Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee and directed by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP), Class of ’83 (Directed by Red Chillies Entertainment), Guilty (Directed by Dhamatic), Mrs. Serial Killer (produced by Farah Khan and directed by Shirish Kunder), and Yeh Ballet (Roy Kapur Films).
Also comprised in the list are Serious Men (produced by Cineraas Entertainment and Bombay Fables), Freedom (Dibakar Banerjee), House Arrest, Maska, and Kaali Khuhi.
"Being on Netflix lets the film to attract its audience on their own time, and remains for newer audiences to find it even months after" stated Farah Khan, filmmaker.
With the existing slate, Netflix has appointed near around 22 films in India, besides a number of original series.
Netflix is also investigating with its assessing models in India, in a proposal to attract a possible set of new subscribers across the country. It started testing a mobile-only subscription previous month and analyzing weekly subscriptions former this month.
