In a statement the Democratic candidate of 2016, Hillary Clinton mentioned that she would not run for the elections scheduled in 2020. But at the same time she did mention that she would continue working towards and stand up to what she believes in. During the elections of 2016 she was expected to win and become the first female US president. During the interaction she also denied for future events.
This was the first time Mrs. Clinton assertively denied speculation. Mrs. Clinton, was the first female presidential nominee selected for a US party in the overall history of the nation. Her rise to the top office was considered as a done and guaranteed thing, however the accusations of being depended on donors along with being too close to Wall Street and distanced from the young generation voters.
Her defeat had led to a period of soul-searching for the Democratic Party. The party is now gearing up for an open primary contest, which has already received names from almost 10 contenders.
Who are contesting in the year of 2020
Senator from Vermont and the 2016 runner-up of Democrat party Bernie Sanders is the newest Democrat to declare for the same. Mr Sanders' name credit and the support received from the party's left has put him in the front of the pack.
Along with him is Senator Elizabeth Warren, from Massachusetts, who was the first big name to announce for his run, as well as Senator Cory Booker from New Jersey and California Senator Kamala Harris. Along with Pete Buttigieg who is also the first gay person to run for the post of president.
